Awesome! Makes PERFECT popcorn and is easy to clean! November 13, 2008 Gordon M. Wagner (Suburbia) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
This makes popcorn in about four minutes and then you flip it over to serve in the lid. I've read stories about other manufacturer's popcorn makers gouging Teflon off their cases, this one is nicely manufactured, works great, works FAST and is easy to clean! I don't like microwave popcorn and I cannot believe I've been shaking a big pan on the stovetop to make popcorn compared with how easy this popcorn popper is! If you like popcorn this is 100% worth the money!
Works well, and better yet, makes kettle corn! December 23, 2008 Alexis N. Howell-Kubler (Gautier, MS) 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
This popcorn popper works well to pop regular popcorn, toast pumpkin seeds or... my favorite, make kettle corn. The packaging says you can also roast nuts, though I haven't tried that yet. Pluses: simple to use and doesn't cost much. Downsides: takes up a lot of space (compared to a hot air popper, for example), has no automatic shut-off and none of the pieces are dishwasher safe, Kettle corn is simple: oil, popcorn and sugar are added to the pan. Turn on and pop as usual. Sprinkle with salt and serve. Figure about 3 T. sugar per 1/2 cup of un-popped popcorn.
Excellent product! January 12, 2009 Norm S (Grand Ledge, MI USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I bought this as a Christmas present to replace an OLD popcorn popper we have. I was a bit leary of it since there were a few reviews I had seen that weren't so good. However, in general, the reviews were far better than for the competition so I bought it.
We've used the Salton several times and it works absolutely wonderful! The unit appears to be quality made, not something that is going to last 6 months and die. I highly reccomend this popcorn popper.
Great popcorn popper June 24, 2009 Jenn (Texas, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this for my parents who were continuously shattering glass and plastic popcorn bowls and it works fantastically. From what I am told, it doesn't seem to leave a single kernel unpopped and they have been using the recommended amounts of oil/popcorn and said it's worked wonderfully. As far as using this as a nut roaster, I can't say because they haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure they will.
Good Popcorn, Hard Clean-up March 2, 2009 Dave WAX (Newport, NC) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Salton® Popcorn Maker
The product works very well in making good popcorn. Just expect to have a little bit of clean-up, especially if using butter. Needs cleaning between poppings, as kernals get stuck under the stirring arm. No auto shut off, you MUST be near it to know when popping stops. Have a kitchen towel ot oven mitts handy for flipping the unit when the popcorn is ready. Fun for the kids, who may have never seen popcorn pop except in a microwave.
